This amazing resonance trick is called the “Chladni plate” experiment. The was performed by Brusspup, someone who has been creating illusion and science videos. This illusion is one work as a fruit for the love of magic, science, music and cinematography.
Brusspup attached the tone generator to a black metal plate with sand over it. The sound frequencies from the speaker vibrates the metal plate, amazingly, the sand moves to the areas where vibrations are lesser. It’s as if the sound is intelligently commanding the sand into formation, creating complex sand patterns. Are they just random patterns formed by vibration? No!. If all factors are made consistent, the patterns formed are consistent as well, each frequency level creates its own unique pattern. The higher the frequency, the sand pattern gets more-and-more complex.
Out of curiosity, could this phenomenon explain unexplained rock formations around the world? Or what if frequencies could actually do more than just form sand patterns? I’ll let your creative minds dwell on that. Share us your thoughts.
